Message from the Director of the Research Institute
We aim for the creation of value innovation from fundamental technology and social co-creation with local communities
The Industrial Technology Research Institute, established in 1996 in the Faculty of Engineering to promote industry-government-academia collaboration and strengthen research functions, was reorganized and developed into the Kindai University Fundamental Technology for Next Generation Research Institute in 2010.
We consider the role of this institute is to contribute to technological development to realize a sustainable society and technology development of the community by formulating a research plan based on a comprehensive survey on the next generation fundamental technology. For that purpose, we organize a total of 8 centers " The Center for Industry and Public Relations" that serves as a point of contact for companies and various research institutions in this region, and 7 research centers to promote research.
" The Center for Industry and Public Relations" acting as one-stop contact point for the industry-government-academia collaboration, accepts inquiries about joint research and technical consultations; provides the Faculty of Engineering with support to enhance its research functions, and manages intellectual properties. The comprehensive collaboration agreement entered into between the research institute and local financial institutions makes it possible for undergraduate students of the faculty to enroll in career education courses endowed by various financial institutions.
"Research center" consists of "Automotive Technology Research Center", " Advanced Robotic Technology Research Center", " Advanced Additive Manufacturing Research Center", "Building Environment Research Center", " Advanced Chemistry and Bioengineering Research Center" , In addition to " Service Innovation Research Center", in April 2018, " Intelligent Systems and Measurement Engineering Research Center" was newly established.
Each research center has formulated a research plan based on collaboration with regional companies and various research institutions. The cooperation teams consisting of teachers who participated to embody the plan was composed, strengthening research performance, and realizing development research.
One of the unique characteristics of the approaches taken by the Faculty of Engineering to promote closer collaboration with regional companies is the establishment of the “Kindai Association for the Promotion of Industry-Government-Academia Collaboration”. Presentation of research seeds and technologies by teachers, exchange of information between members, networking events, and refresher courses for business people are organized and offered with the cooperation and support given by the members of the association.
For research that is useful for the field of engineering, information from everyone who is practicing "manufacturing" at each company is the most important. The institute has a window for that information, as well as members and organizations that carry out its research. We hope to contribute even a little in order to realize a sustainable society by practicing R & D based on the next generation fundamental technology in cooperation with the local community.
